I just had a root canal done 2 weeks ago. It is not finished yet, I go back on Monday for my second appt. The tooth had medicine put into it and a temporary filling. I am still feeling some slight pain in the tooth and some pain in the tooth next to it. Does this sound normal or has anyone else had this problem before?

Yes, it is normal, as I've had 3 root canals and have had some pain after each one. My dentist told me that sometimes it take about a month before all of the pain will go away. If your not sure, just call your dentist and tell him about it.

I would talk to the dentist about this when you return. From my experience the pain should not be as strong as it was originally, it should be subsiding. I have had a root canal that would hurt with hot or cold beverages for several years afterward, at a lower intensity of pain.

Yes. It's like a case of phantom pain. Plus there are still nerves and stuff all around in there. I had all my teeth pulled and every once in a while I start to get a toothache, I remember I don't have any then the pain goes away right away. Weird huh?

It's completely normal... Don't worry, though. You will never hurt like you did before the root canal ever again.
