There's not a simple answer to that question these days. It depends on where you are, what phone company you use, and what calling plan you have. In most cases you can check inside the front of your telephone book. There should be a list of all the cities and/or phone exchanges and what other exchanges are considered local calling from each one. Sometimes this is a very small area, sometimes it can include several million people. In some cases (especially in large cities) it could include several area codes, while in others (particularly in rural areas) it might include just a couple of exchanges. If you can't figure it out, call the customer service number at the phone company (not the internet provider).

1) Is it in the same area code?
2) Ask your provider--best way to know.
3) Get DSL!
