Every country has its faults, so I'm not so sure that any of them (including the U.S.) could be "masters of the world." I live in the U.S., and I think it seems okay to be proud of one's homeland, but it's good to practice humility, too. Even if Europe is falling apart (which I don't know that it is), there have been great things accomplished there. Every country is going to rise and fall in its position of power because change is always happening.

And d h, that's very low of you to start in with the stereotypes. No one's going to take you seriously with statements like that.

By what measure are we on the rise? Contrary to the party line, we do not have the best standard of living in the world. Europeans live just as well and many live better, working fewer hours and with better health care.

America is unusually fortunate for a couple of very big reasons. First, we have an abundance of natural resources including ideal climates, geography and soils for agriculture. It is as if we were born into the wealthiest family in town. We did not do anything other than be born here.

Secondly, America’s Founding Fathers were a unique and rare collection of men whose greatest accomplishment (and what they referred to as their Grand Experiment) was the creation of the world’s first and only truly secular democratic republic. The US Constitution crafted a government that was 100 percent from the influence of religion.

America is built on man’s, and not any God’s, law. There is not a single reference to any God, Jesus, Christianity, or any other religion in the document creating our government and defining our country.

By unanimous vote in the 1797 US Congress (http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/diplomacy/barbary/bar1796t.htm):

•As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen (Muslim),-and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

JAMES MADISON:

•Christianity neither is, nor ever was apart of the common law. Feb. 10, 1814

JOHN TYLER:

•“The United States have adventured upon a great and noble experiment, which is believed to have been hazarded in the absence of all previous precedent -- that of total separation of Church and State.

America’s distance from Europe and much of the rest of the developed world, and the fact that two major oceans occupied this great space separating us from those countries served as a major prophylactic in protecting America from invasion by foreign countries.

In the 1860s, three men saved the country when Lincoln, Grant and Lee were of single mind in agreeing and acting on the proposition that the country was the most important (and only) thing that they should be concerned about. If any one of those three had spoken out against the agreed upon terms ending the American Civil War, the country would have been torn apart by guerilla warfare that would have continued for an unknowable amount of time.

Finally, it was the intelligence and skills of immigrants fleeing political and religious persecution, and economic hardship that gave America it work ethic, individualism combined with a multicultural foundation, and genius.

When Bill Clinton left office, America was the most admired and respected nation on earth; more so than at any time since the immediate post-World War II period. After 9/11, the entire world stood with us.

Now, just five years later, we have lost out dignity and respect, and our word carries no moral authority. We are hated and despised on an unprecedented level and even our own friends are disgusted with us.

Two hundred years of historical accomplishments and advancement has been squandered and trashed by the incompetent and uncaring Bush administration, with the aid and support of fundamentalist Christians – who represent the greatest terrorist threat to the United States and the greatest danger against its continued existence.

Ok... Just remember that to keep things great you have to tweak them a little over time, The great Romans had it pretty good too.. Didn't work out to good for them.. Never get to cocky, Proud is one thing cocky is another.. I agree with you to a point, But Masters of the world Is part of bush's talking points... And that I don't agree with.. Denmark seems pretty cool...

The best of the best left all those countries and moved the the USA. This isnt bragging, its just reality. People were not content to live in states that have no future, and they left to start a new life in the USA.

Because our nation was founded upon principle, dignity, morality. Because our nation was founded upon religious freedom. Because our nation was founded upon Judeo-Christian ethics. Because our nation was deticated to God, and the freedom that God allows man. Our nation because of all this, adopted a Constitutional Republic. This is unique, no one else has our form of Democracy.

Our nation is great, not because of our economy, military strength, or international policy.

Our nation is great because of the character of her people, past and present.

If the character and morality of her people die, our nation will cease to be great... just as the mighty empire of Rome fell. THey fell because of immorality...

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people."-Proverbs 14:34

That is the only reason why we are great. Europe is falling because they have denied God and forgotten morality.

We will end up like them, if we continue to worsen... if our nation continues to tread on the path that it is going.

God save America,

And may God continue to bless our great nation.
