If you can't afford a vet visit and treatment for your dog then you should not have him. His leg could be broken. It could be cancer. These need to be addressed. If you cannot address them, contact dachshund rescue in your area and have them take the dog for you, care for it, provide him vet care, and find him a home with a responsible family that can afford him.
Even if you get assistance from the vet, from the humane society, from the ASPCA, from the breed group, you still have to come to terms with the fact that you can't afford the dog. Even when I made $12,000 a year as a starving college student who literally couldn't afford groceries, my animals still had the best vet care available. If that meant no Internet at $20-$30 a month, so be it. If that meant no going out, so be it. If that meant no new clothes/shoes/food for me, so be it. That's what being a responsible pet owner is about.
Here are some links that might offer you some solutions.

Watch him walk and see if you can tell which leg is bothering him. One at a time, gently press on each paw and around each leg to see if he responds. Then keep an eye on that leg for a while to see if it gets better.
Try to remember what might have happened. Did he fall off a chair? Was he playing too rough?
If you end up having to take him to the vet, all this information will be helpful.
In the meantime, try to get him to stay off his feet so that the injury can heal.
This has happened to my golden retriever a couple of times. Both times it got better on its own. But I watched her carefully to make sure she wasn't in a lot of pain.
BTW, lots of people don't have money readily available for trips to the vet, but it's part of our responsibility as our pets' caretakers to get them medical care when they need it. Most vets are reasonable and they'll keep costs down for you.

Check the paws as your dog could have gotten something stuck there or cut his paw, bend the leg too see if it hurts when bent (this could mean a sprain or break, would be swolen) but also check your dogs armpits... they could have a puncture wound under there..this happaned to my friends dog...they only discovered this after she saw the vet, if this happens make sure the dog is checked for internal bleeding also as this could kill...

The reason may be simple....possibly just a sprained ankle. Have you looked at his paws....he may have stepped on something sharp and cut himself...... Tons of tests aren't needed just a simple x-ray should do.

Well, first thing that comes to mind, is a pulled muscle. Try massaging the area for him. If he yelps, of course, stop what you are doing, because the injury is probably more than a pulled muscle.

Check his paws. Alot of times dogs just get small objects stuck in their paws or pads of feet.
Good luck!
