McCalls had that receipe ; on a 3x5 card, It contained,ginger,pineapple chunks, garlic, and other ingredients; no flour though. Can anyone help me?

Hawaiian Meatballs

1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
2/3 cup cracker crumbs
½ cup minced onion
1 egg
2 teaspoons salt
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons cornstarch
½ cup brown sugar
1 can (14 ounces) pineapple tidbits, drained (reserve juice)
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce

Directions: Mix the meat, crumbs, onion, egg, salt and milk together. Shape into meatballs. Heat a little oil in a skillet and cook meatballs until browned. Remove and keep warm.

Pour fat out of skillet and add cornstarch and sugar. Stir in pineapple juice, vinegar and soy. Cook until thick and bubbly. Add meatballs and pineapple tidbits and heat through.

Serve over rice.

Hawaiian Meatballs

1 1/2 lbs ground beef

1 teaspoon seasoning salt (Lawry's recommended)
1/3 cup flour
3 tablespoons shortening 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2/3 cup cracker crumbs

SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
1 (13 1/2 ounce) can pineapple chunks
5 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 cup vinegar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 green pepper, chopped into bite size chunks
1 (4 ounce) can pimientos, drained (marachino cherries can be used instead)

Combine the first four ingredients, mix well, but lightly.
Shape into meatballs- about 36 (may be frozen at this point and thawed as needed).
Roll meat ball in flour and brown in the shortening.
Place in a casserole dish and cover with the sweet and sour sauce.
SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE.
Drain pineapple (set aside)- reserve juice.
Add water to the juice to make 1 cup liquid.
In a pot over medium heat, blend cornstarch in the juice, then add vinegar, lemon juice, brown sugar, and soy sauce, cook until clear.
Add the pineapple, green pepper, and pimento.
Pour over the meatballs and bake at 350*F for 30 minutes

I like to add sauteed bell peppers too.

1 1/2 cups fresh breadcrumbs, toasted
1 (8 1/4 ounce) can crushed pineapple, well drained
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped celery
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
salt & fresh ground pepper
Sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1/2 orange, juice of
1/4 cup mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
3/4 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
Garnish
2 tablespoons thin sliced scallions

# Meatballs: Preheat oven to 350°F.
# Combine meat ball ingredients and shape into meat balls.
# Bake 30 minutes or more depending on size.
# Simmer in the sauce for 5 minutes before serving.
# Sprinkle with scallions.
# Sauce: Combine cornstarch and water.
# Add remaining ingredients to a small sauce pan and bring to a boil.
# Add the cornstarch mixture and stir until thickened

HAWAIIAN MEATBALLS

2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 can pineapple tidbits (13 1/2 oz.)
1/3 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/3 c. green pepper, chopped

Drain pineapple, reserving liquid. Mix meat, crumbs, onion, egg, salt, ginger and milk. Shape mixture by rounded tablespoons into balls. Melt shortening in large skillet; brown and cook meatballs. Remove meatballs and keep warm. Pour fat from skillet. Mix cornstarch and sugar, stir in pineapple syrup, vinegar, and soy sauce until smooth. Pour into skillet; use medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and boiling. Cook 1 minute. Add meatballs, tidbits and green pepper. Heat thoroughly. Serve over hot cooked rice and hawaiian fruit on the side.
