It takes about 5-7 days for a cold to run the course. Rest, eat chicken soup, drink plenty of fluids. Chicken soup sounds funny but it is well known to help. Keeps you hydrated, & there is a chemical in chiccken that helps you rest. Usually eating is not high on ones agenda when they feel rotten. Yet eating is important, you will not get as weak & soup seems to go down when nothing else will. Rest & rest.

There is no way I know of to speed up a cold,s duration. All you can do is take some medicine if it is really bad and that's about it. A cold is a virus and will be gone in 5 to 7 days.

• Chicken soup helps flush out cold and flu viruses (by getting the mucus moving out of your system) so you feel better faster. Scientists aren't exactly sure why but suggest that it's the heat or a special unidentified compound in the broth.

• Garlic scores big for its medicinal properties and ability to boost the production of illness-fighting antibodies. It has antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties.

• Fluids help flush out bad bugs, such as bacteria. Normally, eight glasses of fluid a day is recommended for good health. When you're sick, try to get double that. It includes vegetables broth, light tea, water, and soups. Avoid fuit juices.

A cold will run its course in 10 to 14 days normally. They are viral and just have to run their course.

If it continues, it is more likley an allergy than a cold.

You can treat the symptoms, but there is no cure.

Best Wishes,

Sue

Well other than what the doctor tells you.. lots of rest and fluids.
My boyfriend sewars that wrapping yourself in a blanket ans sweating it out works. Personally for me I have taken Cold FX and it helps. Other than that you really just have to ride it out.
