do i really need a bracket for my 42" plasma tv?

or can i get away with 6 good metal raw plugs? prices are rediculous for brackets

No! If your'e handy with metal and can get it folded, I guess you could make one up. But is it worth the bother? It will probably end up further off the wall than a manufactured bracket. Is there not a Costco near to you? they had a load of brackets about half the usual shop prices.

i made mine with two 25mm x 5mm steel bars and four home made brackets that screw to the wall, i spaced the two bars out using nuts and they hook into the wall clips.
