hi, i'm planning on running for student council president next year as a junior (in high school.) i'm on sophomore class council this year, (which isn't exactly a student GOVERNMENT, but it's close.) I'm worried that because i wasn't on student council last year or this year, it will affect my chances at becoming the new student council president. although i am quite busy with many other activities: (swim team, water polo team, model u.n., various service projects, class council, best buddies) but i intend to find time to join student council next year because i'm very interested in political science, and also i feel like i can be a postive influence and direct some positive change for my school. that's why i want to run for student council president. any tips on how to win the students' votes and respect???

Get to know people in all social groups, especially those who are younger than you. Take a genuine interest in people, and ask them what you can do for them.

Don't be fake, rude, or judgemental...seek out the people that have no friends and get to know them...get down to the level of the little guy. Try to find out what others' issues are and see if there's any way you can change them...fakeness will ruin you!

hope this helps
