My lhasa apso has already been injected with Homeagain Microchip but that only will work if someone actually turns my dog in to the shelter or veterinarian.

Not in the US but in Europe they already have a GPS chip for the dogs that is tracked wherever a cell phone signal can be picked up; I can't wait till it hits the US!

How about keeping it on a leash and fencing the yard, making sure there are no escape routes?

I understand that dogs get loose sometimes but if you're searching for this type of solution it sounds like this is an ongoing issue. I would say train your dog andkeep it on a leash before you spend money on GPS if there is such a thing for dog collars.

No but you could microchip your dog this way if it gets lost your pet can be scanned and traced to you.
