Unconditional love is simply love that is given freely, no strings, no conditions, no expectations. It means that whatever a person chooses, asks, or does, that love will always be there.
It doesn't mean that a person gets a free ticket, being allowed to run roughshod over everyone. They don't get a clean slate for all of their peccadilos or offenses. It means simply, that love will abide, and whatever circumstances a person finds themselves in, that they are loved.
I love my daughters, unconditionally. When my oldest didn't speak to me for four years after my ex and I were divorced, I loved her. I yearned for her to reciprocate, and when that finally happened, I rejoiced. I was hurt terribly, but the love didn't fade.
When someone I love dearly hurt me terribly, I felt anger, but I still loved them and hoped for the day that they would make ammends.
On the other end, there are quite a few people who I won't love unconditionally. I can't find it in myself to love those who abuse children. I guess that might make me a bit of a hypocrite, maybe that's a condition on love for other people.... hmmmmm you've made me think.

Unconditional love is an act of mental and spiritual will, it cannot and does not take place upon the emotional level, which is where the problems first register. Unconditional love is extending oneself in the service of the spiritual growth of oneself and/or another, independently of reward or the behavior of others.

Love first of all is a choice and not an emotion.
Jesus commanded us to love one another, if it was an emotion, then how could He command us to have an emotion? Try this, "I command you to be sad." See how silly.
Unconditional love is the type of love between a parent and a child, no matter what your child does you will always love that child, unless your heartless. Unconditional love is love that isnt' based on any conditions.

1Corinthians 4-8 (N.I.V.)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth. It always trusts, always hopes and always perserveres. Love never fails.
Unconditional love is mans attempt to describe the perfect love that God has for His children. Forgiviness is a result of perfect love. Both grace and mercy begin with forgiviness and are a part of and reflected clearly in unconditional or perfect love.

It is love as expressed by Jesus Christ on the cross - total giving of onesself for the good of another, asking nothing in return. It is also love as expressed in the marriage vows - for better or for worse, in good times and in bad, regardless of circumstances, regardless of anything and everything. That's what "unconditional" means.

Unconditional love is simply that---love which has no conditions. Whether the other person hurts you, deceives you, whatever they might do to you, you continue to love them, unconditionally and without reservations, just as GOD loves us.

When you love someone unconditional you love them no matter what there is no condition why you love them. For example God loves us unconditionally. He loves us no matter what we do. Or what we look like.

It is to behave lovingly(use a general definition) towards another without any regard whatsoever of the other`s reaction or of thought unconscious or conscious of personal gain.
