Coral reefs are important for many reasons. Most importantly, they provide protection and shelter for many different species of fish. Without coral reefs, these fish are left homeless with nowhere to live and no where to have their babies.

Not only do these fish increase the diversity of our world, but also reef fish and mollusks feed between 30 and 40 million people every year.
They also make beautiful pets and the money made by catching and selling these animals provides many people with an income so that they can feed their families.
And coral are very important in controlling how much carbon dioxide is in the ocean water

i think this makes sense.....

It's going to be hard because there are a lot of factories in the Philippines that work for the united states and Canada. They have ships coming in and out delivering stuff that people order online, or people shop for from the stores that the those factories support. because of those real die-hard pollution it's destroying the coral reefs. You should probably encourage people to stop buying those brands they suck anyways like H&M, i don't shop there anyways. But then again how will the Philippinos find jobs?? it's like poverty there they need to survive on something. I think there are some new technology, their might be ships that don't do as much damage. Like the mercury that's found in the seas. You can also encourage people to stop scuba diving in the philippine area or where the coral reefs are, because the tanks and all the oxygen-related equipment can increase the concentration of mercury in the water. Pretty much boat-rides would have to be canceled, unless you're manually rowing yourself into water. You can also encourage people to stop litering in the ocean, and maybe clean up around the shores.

Coral reefs actually protects the island from the weather. A island with no reef around it would wash away with the first hurricane. Provides good shelter for many fish and animals.

coral reefs enhance our environment by means of provividing 'home' to marine animals and if these marine animals have a good home then they can reproduce their number and if there is a lot of marine animals which may serve as food to humans or contributor to environmental safety or attraction, then coral reefs in an indirect manner enhance our environment.
