My 3 Kittens like to play in there litter box they kick the stones around and start playing with them and some time if they hit some of the stones out of the box they eat them its weird.
They always have lots of fresh food so dont say they are hungry lol and they have HEAPS of toys and scratching posts =).
So can someone tell me why they are playing in there litter box and how can i stop this.

Simply put... because they can. It's a box with little rocks that move around when they step on them, they are easy to throw and make a noise. They give them traction when they peel out chasing each other. It's like one of those green turtle sandboxes for kids, only for kitties. They will grow out of it, eventually.

Thats so cute! Since the kittens use that same box all the time its one of the most important parts of their personal territory. They might have to go to the bathroom and have to run all the way to the litter box...why not just play in it? oh yeah i forgot to finish the answer this is ok for them to be doing this as I told you they all use that box, and they are just taking advantage of there territory but if you are really annoyed let them in the bathroom(or wherever you have the box only at there common bathroom times if thay start making a mess remove them from the room or distract thm with some toys. Hope I helped!

It's not too serious. Cats are just playful, mine is almost 12 and still does it. Like earlier said just get her some toys and spend more time with her and it will either go away or decrease. You can also get her an enclosed litter box. That's what we did so that we wouldn't have litter all over the floor.

Just take them out when they are playing in there and tell them NO firmly. They'll stop it eventually. Try to keep an eye on them so they don't eat the litter. I had a kitten that was taken from its mother too young, was eating the litter and it messed up its stomach. If you have a paper shredder, you may want to shred paper for awhile until they get over this.

They are learning from their mother, and besides it's fun! That behavior won't last forever, believe me.

WHY DO KIDS LIKE TO PLAY IN SANDBOXES?
OR AT THE BEACH?
OR IN DIRT?
IT'S SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM THE NORM, I GUESS.
THEY'LL GET OVER IT SOON.
