It depends on the type of hair that you have. If you have natural curly hair then the best type of perm to use is Beautiful Beginnings or Just For Me. Actually that is the type of perm that I use for myself and I am 29 yrs. old. I don't have natural curly hair but I don't have "nappy" hair either. However, if you hair is course you can use the Just 4 Me relaxer that is for course hair. Those are the 2 relaxers that I would use. On a scale of 1 - 10 I would have to say 10. I hope that this helps you...AL`

P.S. You should be able to purchase these products at Wal-Mart, Fred's Dollar Store, or any Hair Product Store (Sally's, if you have one in your state).

I would reccomend going to a proffesional for the first time. Box perms can do a lot of damage. You should see how the texture of your hair is. Course or regular. You can tell the difference when you comb your hair out if it is hard to comb then you may have course hair. Lye perms are harsh to the scalp but they dont strip the moisture out of your hair. no lye perms are gentel but they are harsh to the hair. i hope this helps.

Revlon Realistics or Dr. Miracles or Hawaiian Silky. No-Lye contains no Sodium Hydroxide or Ammonium Thioglycolate which means little or no hair breakage. But I prefer Lye relaxers, your hair becomes straighter, longer. Jjust keep up the maintence of your hair while it is relaxer and you should have no problems. You can buy any relaxers at Sallys Beauty Supply or and beauty supply store. I give the three relaxers a 10.

I'm not sure what a perm is but there's this "Smart Style" hair salon in Walmart...they do permanent relaxing & straightening for like, $90!

And when I say permanent, I MEAN permanent! Just ask for a relaxer & straightening =)

Doesn't a perm make your hair wavy to curly? Isn't your hair naturally that way?
