Like i am standing on the shoreline feet submerged in the shallow waves and my feet are sinking in the sand. The water rushes in and goes out again leaving your feet embedded and the water rushes around you and you are struggling to hold on to your footing when everything is dragging you down and in all directions so fast. This is my analogy for trying to hang on with mental illness.

my world feels like that all the time. i try and cling on to sumthing and my fingers seem to slip and i lose my grip and fall off this cliff and drown. its like im on a cliff and everyone is watching as im trying to hold onto the edge but the cliff is crumbling away in my fingers. the funny thing is i know nuthing is as bad as my mind tells me it is and im just being overdramatic but thats how i feel. i know exactly wat u feel.

I love your analogy and feel it is very apt. I relate well to that feeling and have experienced it just like that throughout the years.

All I can say is that like all feelings, this one too will pass. Just hang in there. Oh and I found it helpful when I was taught to really notice that feeling. Describe it in words just like you have done here. Add colour texture weight and other concepts too. Really concentrate on every aspect of the feeling and as you do you will notice it begin to change colour, texture, weight, temperature. Eventually if you concentrate long enough you will notice it growing lighter, brighter, and you will begin to feel the sand grow solid beneath your feet. Give it a try.

Best of luck for the future

Have you talked to anyone (professionally) about how you feel? Often, struggles in life (which are very common) can make you feel the way you described. The body reacts to what you are thinking. It's important that you tell your doctor about how you feel.

Most people get this type of sensation at one time or another
Not necessarily mental illness.
Likely quite normal, if not experienced all the time
