The flu shot is basically a small, inactive dose of the influenza virus. Because it is a small, inactive dose, your body can resist it and build antibodies to fight the influenza virus the next time you are exposed to it (Like when a classmate sneezes near you)

People with egg allergies should not take the flu shot.

Flu mist immunizations contain live, but weakened, virus. People with autoimmune disease (lupus, RA, MS) should not take this nor should people with compromised immune systems because of HIV/AIDS or organ transplant.

there are dead strands of genetic info from last years flu. Which prevents you from having that same flu or others with close genetic info! Sometimes you get a cold after you get a flu shot!
