The War in Iraq can be described in various ways. The way the war was able to come about was because of the national fervor to fight terrorism here and abroad following 9/11. Its doubtful if the President could have gotten the support to send troops there without that attack, as there was very mixed opinion on the war in Kosovo several years earlier. One of the prime motivators to go to Iraq tho was the necon group Project for the next American century Many of the current admin are members of this group. Put simply it was the idea that it was Americas job to police the world. It was part of that agenda that the U S had to finish the job that the gulf war of the early 90's started, Despite the fact that That previous Bush admin thought it was a bad idea then, even with a large international coalition. Despite the fact that there was no hard evidence that Iraq had WMD's or that they supported al queda or that they were involved with 9/11 and that there was a much smaller coalition this group of "Neocons" Convinced Americans that Saddam Hussein was a clear and present danger. We can now see this was an unsound idea
Iraq was an empty shell of a regime Hussein actually an impediment to Muslim radicals, and it appears we are stuck in a civil war between these various factions How it will all play out is anyones guess

Honestly, we should nuke that hellhole and turn it into a parking lot for a new Walmart. That will definitely get Iran's attention and make them crap in the diapers they wear on their heads.
