as long as the puppy does not chewthe blanket and swallow the pieces it should be ok. A doggie bed would be better

I don't believe so, just make sure there isn't anything that he can tear off and swallow such as buttons, sequins, pins etc. and there's no need to put a huge pile, one or two should be enough. If the blanket is almost in shreds before giving it to him/her then I wouldn't use it since puppies like to chew and he might swallow a large piece.

i put blankets in my dogs "room" and he has no problems
