The following has just been written about me by 'asbo-arry 'Sorry, Jack C...it was David P who was being the Sun reading intellectual!'

As someone who spent 30 years working as a motor trader and, at least according to his wife, far too much time watching Rugby and drinking beer I have been called many things, not many of them nice but no-one has ever before called me an intellectual.

So that bit I shall wear with pride. . but 'Sun reading'?

Is ot possible to be an intellectual AND read the Sun ( on a regular basis I presume)?

Oh, and thank you 'asbo' for the compliment, although so far my mates have proved less than accepting of this description of me.

Just about, if it is done to keep an eye on the shifting movements of the panicky hordes, in case they stampede. (even enough sheep going in the same direction can be dangerous)

"Mankind are a herd of knaves and fools. It is necessary to join the crowd, or get out of their way, in order not to be trampled to death by them." William Hazlitt.

It is definitely an oxymoron. It is possible to read The Sun and be an intellectual. However, (being slightly judgemental), most of their readers would hardly qualify as can be witnessed by anyone near someone reading The Sun. They tend to be a little confused when they find a balanced and well written article about anything that's not sleazy or related to breasts in some way.

I suppose an intellectual would only really read it as light relief, in much the same way a child reads a comic. They'd buy a genuine newspaper for balanced and informative news items. Stick to the beer and rugby, a much better idea.

Uhhh what is sun reading? I've looked at the sun through a telescope with a solar filter on it. You can see sunspots, and how fast the sun rotates. You can also see venus and mercury cross in front of the sun on rare occasions. Seems like a pretty intellectual thing to do.

Whats that ?
Sounds bad for the eyes, lol.

My grandma could tell you what time it was, by looking at the sun's position.
