I think so.
Yes, a draft may not be neccessary, but what would it hurt?
Young people today have life too easy to realize that their "freedom" cost something that money and credit cards cannot buy.
Mettle. A damn fine word (as one person has stated) to describe the need for a draft. I tested mine and am proud to say that I am a better person for it. I am sure many others will agree. At least I can say that I know the true meaning of the word.
Many in this country have forgotten what America is all about. If you can't handle the responsiblities of being a citizen, then run away and don't come back.
We may not have liked "what" we did in the line of duty, but we took the responsiblity of our commitment, and carried out our orders. Had we not done that, some of you idiots out there would not have the luxury and the right to judge us, criticize us and hate us like you do. And most of us volunteered in the first place!
Let's see some Nintendo, or XBox games teach younger generations responsibility, pride, and commitment. We are breeding a generation of coddled and spoiled young people. Weakness will not prevail in the end.

a hundred% in prefer. It heavily isn't ordinary for the yellow abdomen, us of a of america haters to run off to Canada this time. Why? simply by fact Canada is working on a plan to Require all and numerous, American, Canadian or in spite of to have a passport to circulate the border, in the two direction. so, working away heavily isn't an selection this time. aside from the militia factor, the Rangle bill could additionally grant thoughts for different varieties of required civil provider, not basically bullet sponges. only submit to in thoughts, that's a Democrat that needs the draft, and the vast majority of the yankee people voted for the Democrats this time. so as meaning it is what the yankee people elect. It exchange right into a republican President that ended the draft after VietNam and instituted an all volunteer militia, one that is greater knowledgeable and approximately ninety 9% drug unfastened. The Republicans made the militia what that's in the present day. A republican President equipped the militia as much as a substantial rigidity for the time of the 1880s, and a Democrat decrease the size of the militia in 0.5 for the time of the Eighteen Nineties, which made us look vulnerable in the eyes of the international community. Now a Democrat needs to wreck the militia even greater beneficial by utilising drafting unwilling members. the yankee people could have noone in charge yet themselves, they simply had to go with Dems. specific, i could enable my daughter serve if drafted. i could elect to confirm her bypass desirable now and volunteer, yet she is in college and nonetheless sees issues with the aid of a liberals eyes. some day, she would be in a position to mature and spot that the country needs a reliable militia, and clever people to maintain it reliable. i does not inspire her boyfriend to serve, he's only undeniable ol stupid, and in all probability could not open the door on the recruiters place of work. he's the variety that should be drafted.

I'd be even more worried about my husband whose already in. I think it's bad enough that some people get to have cell phones during basic and aren't supposed to be yelled at either (depends on the MOS and I seriously thought it was a joke until it was on the cover of army times!)Can you imagine the lack of discipline there'd be with people drafted and with their cell phone in tow? So I absolutely do NOT think there should be a draft.

It certainly isn't reasonable to keep rotating the same units back to Iraq over and over again. The draft may be necessary to relieve this problem if the Pentagon can't find a better way to resolve it.

Since I am too old to be drafted, and I am not sure that I really approve of the draft, Rangel's idea is to create a draft to end the war. He thinks that if we start drafting the children of senators and congressmen, then the war will end rapidly.

No. I understand the importance of having enough troops for the many problems we face, and I know that the military is a great place for our young people to learn discipline.
However, I fear that with the current culture, the divided nature of our nation, and the disrespect that many Americans now have for authority,it would undermine our military's effectiveness (to have people enlisted who do not want to be there).

maybe people would take a little more time thinking about things before crying out war if one of their loved ones was at risk to be drafted and sent into combat. i believe our military is extremely strained, and if people are so proud to be american then maybe they should step up to the plate and dedicate some time..instead of sittin on their butts bit*hin and moanin about what the politicians are doin as they flip through their cable tv in their cozy lazy-boy, while my husband rides around in a bradley wondering which car he drives by is gonna have an IED in it and blow his a** up

Yes, why not? If you want to live in this country and be patriotic, why not serve for it? To be called up for the draft should be an honor.

Absolutely. Not for Chuckie's reasons though. I think the youth of this country are in dire need of discipline and self discovery, in a positive way.
The ones who don't want to go to combat, can work in other MOS's, or guard the border.
There are plenty of brave men around to fill the combat roles.
