Go to mapquest.com and click on the blue car at the top. Once you type in where you want to go and click "get directions," there's a little box on the right that lets you choose what kind of directions you want..."avoid highways," "avoid tolls,"...etc.

depends where you want the map for? the below link is for a maps of australia and will give you the shortest or fastest route, it will also give you walking time and road to take if you want to aviod toll roads or non toll.

Mapquest offers the most choices, such as "most direct route" or "quickest time", things like that. I have good luck with them. Yahoo maps are accurate too.

start with yahoo since this is their q&a
http://maps.yahoo.com/ also others to try as I check on for long trips at times you can save alot of miles by checking different sites as they have different directions
