There are healthier alternatives out there. Honestly, if you want stop eating the junk, you need discipline. I don't know where you can get it, but its out there. Once you get that then you will be able to stop eating all the unhealthy crap.
I'd say test yourself. Stop cold turkey. Don't eat junk for a week. If you can do that - you've found discipline. During this week of discipline soul searching, every time you get a craving for something sweet (carbs) eat an apple, orange, or banana. If you crave something pastry like - try animal or Graham crackers. If you want something really sweet - raisins usually satisfy.
Rule of thumb - read the indigents and if it contains MSG then don't put it in your mouth - MSG is the culprit that make the Lay's slogan (you cant have just one) and Pringles (once you pop you cant stop) come true.
Aside from the crackers, the fruits will do two good things for you- (1) fill your belly and (2) satisfy your sweet tooth. The key here is to have variety.
After youve found discipline for this first week; if things begin to get boring try adding light/fat free yogurt (or pudding) to the mix.
As far as eating out - unfortunately you will have to give this up all together. I will tell you that no one has ever found discipline at the bottom of an empty carton of McDonald's french fries or anywhere on the menu at KFC.
I know this may seem like a drastic change but you have to start somewhere. The idea is to find healthier things to eat that you like and have them more often than "the crap".
Hope this helps...

1. Drink more water, since sometimes you think you're hungry but you're actually thirsty.
2. Chew sugarless gum
3. Eat more protein and less carbohydrates, which will cause you to crave sweets less often
4. Keep busy, don't just sit in front of the tv (the commercials will make you crave food)
5. Be prepared with healthy snacks (fruit, nuts, low fat cheese, etc) and plan to eat every 3-4 hours.
6. If it's the conveniece of fast food instead of taking the time to cook, you might try Lean Cuisine. Their chicken pecan spa meal has saved my diet many times.

The way it works for me is.. i see each time I fight a craving as a triumphal moment (= ONE Point). . These decisions are hard to make.. but i know that IF i eat that pepperoni pizza ill feel like garbage and just FAT, and if i CONSCIOUSLY make the decision to eat healthy... (even a sandwich can be a better choice) and feel better both fiscally and mentally better, and after 20 triumphant moments i deserve a treat! one cake slice or something..usually you (I) get an uncontrollable craving a day....so i collect points, lose weight and feel I'm making a change for good... I worked for me
The most important thing is WILL, and just hang in there, it is possible to eat healthy... but requires a CONSCIOUS EFFORT. exercise too helps to crave healthy foods
Good luck

ummm, you didnt specify how old you were, so i dunno if you go to school, work, or if you dont work at all, but if you work or go to school, what i would suggest is changing into your pajamas as soon as you get home so you can't just get into your car and drive to the nearest Burger King. That supresses most urges, but if you STILL can't stand it, i would say you would have to buy a cookbook or get someone to teach you how to cook, because cooking is fun, and it'll get you into the habit of eating healthy quick as a wink :0)
other suggestions would be:
*sometimes, just eating healthy doesnt lessen your weight.... you could excercise regularly in addition to eating less for a good diet.... plus, it would give you more motivation
*stick a big poster up where you can see it every day, that says "I AM ON A DIET; I AM NOT GOING OUT TO EAT JUNK FOOD THAT WILL MAKE ME UNHEALTHY" or something like that. you know, propaganda for the whole thing
*instead of filling yourself up with reese's peanut butter cups and Doritos when you're hungry, chomp down on apples and bananas! leave a bowl of them on the table
*make goals for yourself (for example, i'm gonan lose 5 pounds by next month...) and follow them
*rid your house of junk food. ALL OF IT.
*get a friend you can jog with
and more.....
i hope this helps and good luck!

Self Disipline and will.. you need that first off, if you dont have that , then forget about it.. I understand completely what you feel. i just got on a diet.. and what really got me to stop eating like a pork is looking at women with great bodies (mags and TV) ... that always drives me,, i know it sounds a little pyscho, but it really does drive me to lose weight and look good like them. Ive lost 5 pounds in a week... so if i can do it you can too!!! good luck and let me know how your diet is going in a couple of weeks.

ok.... like when you go out to make groceries dont get anything with alot of sweets, fats,ect.. and dont bring them into the house. Make a rule to yourself saying that ONLY healthy things to eat will come in this house. And if you feel like going out to eat at a fast food restaurant just go to subway.

As poka said (and as hard as it may be) do not purchase junk food. If you live at home with anyone (brothers, sisters, ect) and junk food is always lingering around, ask them if they will hide it out sight from you. If you know junk food is in access, then your will struggle
with the "weak-diet-will" and fall prey to the flavor monster. :o)

Throw it all away. Don't allow any of it in your house.
Make grocery lists, stick straight to it, so you aren't tempted to buy any potato chips - try to avoid that isle.
If you're hungry for a snack, grab an apple.
I'd also reccomend pitching that TV, nothing's good on it anyways.
Pick up a sport.
Should help ya out.
