Religion is a useful tool for enriching one's life. Not a substitute for medication and treatment. Prayer can be used to ask for strength in coming to terms with the situation, but won't cure a long standing serious medical problem.

or...if God didn't want her to be able to get help, he wouldn't have created clinicians.....(last resort).

If this woman works for you, you may try to demand that she seeks tx as a term of continued employment. (If you are in a state where that is permissable.

Good luck!

This Christian women obviously is not relying on God for help. I know as a Christian she would want to seek help from a Christian pyschologist. Now I don't know if she will go to the counselor for attention or does she really need some spiritual guidance. If she suffers from post-traumatic stress from childhood , I think as a grown woman , she has held on to that for too long. This woman has children and the things that she does will be seen by her children. If she doesn't want to hear the truth, then she does want attention. If you go to someone for counseling or help , I think you should at least prepare yourself for things that you might not want to hear.

She needs to stop thinking of herself as a Christian woman and start thinking of herself as a woman. I have found that many "Christian women" have the worst self-images, as they feel they are always being judged by society, their church, and God. I do not mean she should stop being Christian. I mean she should stop thinking about herself in terms of how others think of her and should start thinking about how she thinks of herself. She needs to be a woman, not a "Princess of Christ," as many of the severely depressed, literally suicidal Christian women I know call themselves.

I hope that made sense. Good luck.
