Christmas/winter time is the BEST time to propose to your girlfriend for many reasons:

1) you can sit by the fire place where it's warm and cozy
2) the ring, no matter what kind, ALWAYS sparkles more when its by the fire
3) if it's snowing, everything is 10x more romantic
4) your girlfriend's face will have tht rosy winter glow
etc etc

The definite best way I think to propose to your girlfriend is to make a reservation that has a fireplace and the reserve the table nearest the fireplace where you can propose to her....it's SO ROMANTIC!!
P.S. i'm not sure if there are many restaurants that DO have fireplaces but many might during Christmas/winter time...so good luck finding one....(I was thinking of a restaurant near where i live so i'm guessing alot have one)

Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful time! :)

Hey Joe from Idaho-
I personally think that Christmas or New Years Eve are good days, but whenever you think the time is right for you to ask your girlfriend. I mean, you could do it right now if you really wanted to. For Christmas, have you seen the commercial with the kids reading The Night Before Christmas? If you have all your family, you could do that, and ask your dad or mom or something to read this: It's the night before Christmas, and (girlfriend) didn't know, that Joe is behind her, with a present to show. Hope she says yes when you pop the question! Happy Marriage!

Some will say a holiday like Chrismas or Valentine's Day but I think the best time of the year would be on a day that 's both meaningful to you and her like:
*the anniversary of your first date
*the anniversary of your first kiss,
*the anniversary of first time you realized you loved her, etc.

It would show that you cared about all the little milestones in your relationship and would totally impress her; besides she'd EXPECT something on Chrismas but would be blown away if you did it a year from your first kiss.

you should ask her during a time that is unexpected. if she knows that you guys are serious then she will expect you to do it at xmas or her birthday or valentines day. i would say to find some of those secret holidays like best friend day or some thing so when she askes you why you picked that day you can say its because she is ur best friend and that was the day for it. something cutie like that

Truthfully, if you know you are going to do this, do it NOW.

If you wait until between Christmas and Valentine's day you will have a horribal time securing a reception site.

If you will not be engaged by Thanksgiving, wait until March, or later.

Anytime ... but don't do it on a day she would expect it ... like Valentines Day, Birthday or Christmas ... what is her favorite season? Pick a day on the calendar and then just do it!! Good luck!!

Christmas is nice, but I think New Year's Eve is better - start of a new year, new life together - very romantic!

That is so sweet! Good luck!

The best time is when it is right for you and her -- the month, day, season have nothing to do with the timing.

Anytime. I just asked my fiance to marry me on Thursday. As long as you want to then any time is fine. You can make it romantic anytime anywhere.

At Christmas - it spares you the expense of getting her a Christmas present AND an expensive ring.
