Hi Jane...Lysol will not destroy the worms. The cat needs to be dewormed (if not already) and the litter box washed down with hot water and bleach. This is the most effective way to destroy the worms reinfestation.

If you don't want worms in cats, then you MUST keep their litter box clean. Buy good, clumping litter like "Ever-Clean" and clean it every single day by scooping out the clumps and disposing them. Once a week, add more of the litter to keep the level at 5 - 7 inches deep . Once a month, toss out all the litter, wash the box with soap and water, rinse with boiling water, dry thoroughly. If your cat has had worms or other infection, after cleaning and scrubbing with soap and water, you can rinse the box with Javex or a really heavy spray of LYSOL. Be sure you then rinse well with the boiling water as the Ly sol or Javex stinks too much for kitty's tender nose. Disinfection is important but you don't want to make your pet sick. And, of course, you must take kitty to the Vet and get her de-wormed first! Do the box cleanup soon as you put her in your carrier so it is a clean box to come home to!

Don't just spray the litter box, what I do is wash out the litter box with soap and some bleach and I rinse it completly. The chemicals in Lysol and other products could hurt your kittens and cats. What ever you choose to clean the box out with make sure it's thoroughly rinsed of any soap/bleach residue.
I usually clean my cats litter boxes once every ten days when I put all new litter in. That will keep them healthy and prevent any urinary problems.

It should kill the eggs, but to be safe, I'd say take it outside and either leave it out in the sun for a few days as well. The problem is that Lysol has a strong odor, and the cats may not want to use the litterbox as long as it smells strong.

Lysol is a disinfectant. That means it works on germs, not worms. You could try scrubbing out the litterbox with a bleach solution and rinsing well. You should be doing that on a regular basis anyway, to help control odors keep your cat's environment clean. If you are that concerned, why not just buy a new litterbox? They aren't that expensive and you would be starting over fresh.

Lysol won't kill worms, it only kills bacteria and germs. Just dump the litter, scrub the box out with bleach water and rinse well. This will completely rid your litterbox of eggs and etc. Make sure you also wash their bedding in hot water and bleach.

I simply wash my litterboxes with hot water and dishwashing soap and never use any other chemicals to clean them. If it's a sunny day I put them in the sun till they dry.
If you are concerned about a reinfestation of worms for heaven's sake buy a new litterbox. They are under $5. The worms have to have a host to live in so they will die. Just keep the old box and use it in a month or so. With two kittens you will eventually need to use a second box anyway.

Lysol may have harsh chemicals that could harm your pet. Just clean, emtpy, or whatnot the whole entrie litter box to be safe.

I do it everytime I empty the cat box. I spray it with lysol, let it dry and then refill it with cat litter. No problems yet.
