Unfortunately there are pastors like that who mislead people to think that the BIble teaches we should tithe a certain percentage of our money and that God will bless us if we do. The truth is the Bible does not teach 10 percent tithing. It encourages cheerful giving, that is, giving because you want to. But it must be made clear that giving your money to God cannot earn any favor. What he does bless is cheerful giving. But that blessing may or may not be financial. In fact, God's plan for some people is that they remain with little financial means. Consider Jesus. The man wrote no books that would have collect royalties. He had no degree. DId not own a business. The man didnt even have a house. He was truly pverty stricken yet amazingly he never complained of any lack. Wish more of us were like that.

Personally, I wouldn't be going back to that church. We have a choir, but they don't get paid, and they don't take collections for them. Our minister has a spouse, but they don't get paid either, its part of marrying a minister. Our Sunday school teachers are not paid either, and the pastor gets a paycheck so shouldn't be needing any "pastor's aid". Like I said, would not be going back to that particular church. Something very wrong there.

I agree with you completely. It is sad find another church there are some that don't base it all on money. I can understand in times of need for a family or the church needs some major work but to ask consistently for more and more money..that's extreme.

hi ! tithings is for God's pastors ...that is for them because they are full - time workers for God ...so that's ok ...the other is OFFERINGS : to my understanding , offerings is a free-will thing ...what I afford to give ...not what another person tells me to give ...this is no longer an offering but a demand and I don't believe it should be done in God's church...even if I have nothing to spare or give , I believe I am the same in God's eyes as he who gives the most FROM HIS HEART ...unfortunately , in many churches , people ask too much for the sake of God's work ...can be DECEIVING if you know not God's word : II Tim 2 : 15 STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED UNTO GOD , A WORKMAN THAT NEED NOT BE ASHAMED , RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH ...RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD OF TRUTH...in my church for example : some children are going to Australia in a months time for a camp meeting ...those who could afford approx. $ 2000 . Those who could not afford will have to stay back...funny thing is there is a time when the plate was circulated in the church for help towards those who are going ! To me , it is not bad to attend if you could BUT NOT TO BEG FOR OFFERING FROM MEMBERS , INCLUDING THOSE WHO WOULD NOT GO , TO GIVE ...to me it is not right ..so whenever the plate comes my way , I never give because my conscience tells me this is wrong ....unfortunately , in the true church of God , there are members who could not RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WORD OF TRUTH ...including Pastors who are not in tune with God ....never believe that all pastors are God's ...never ..there are some pastors that are used by satan to deceive the VERY ELECT OF GOD ...Mathew 24 : In the last days ...FALSE PROPHETS and TEACHERS would deceive ( God's people ) ...Also : in the church ,there would be TARE and WHEAT untill the HARVEST when JESUS RETURNS ....God Bless

Heh...tithe is 10%. I don't see how you could be expected to tithe more than that. I see tithes as outdated though. An offering based on what you feel you ought to give to God is best. It does not even have to be in a church setting. If you take a portion of your money and use it to feed someone who is hungry, or clothe someone who is wearing rags...then you have fed and clothed Jesus. Welcome to true giving.

You must be kidding!!! I've never been in a church like that. Avoid it. It costs nothing to get into heaven. Come to our church. We do take a free-will offering, but you are not prodded into giving.

Have you noticed how the religions are in so much disagreement you they all agree that God told them to tell you that you must support them.
