Since this is under non alc drinks, I can only advise you learn to steep up a good cuppa, and share your tea with people.

Find yourself a good counselor to help you learn some of the social skills you may have missed along the way,
I am not being sarcastic. Many of us don't pick up so easily on the subtle social cues that can make or break the desired comfort level.
Some because it wasn't modeled in the home, some with certain learning differences that just don't pick up on things so easily, some who are more concrete thinkers.
Lots of possible reasons, kudos to you for seeking to better yourself/situation.
Also, if you get a chance to watch healthy social interactions without creeping anyone out, try to ask yourself what are the consistencies that you notice are the same in the interactions of the most socially popular people.
Also hang out with authentic people who are down to earth and comfortable to be with.
The approval or acceptance of a phony is worse than worthless.

You should never have to feel that you are forcing people to like you - true friendship and companionship comes in all forms and least when and where you expect it. My advice is to just be yourself, relax and most of all try not to worry to much about what other people might think. There are billions of people in this world and many of them will be exactly like you. Try joining a club or socialising with a new circle of people - the results may surprise you. Live your life to the full the way you want to, and not the way you think you ought to. As, I mentioned before, friendship can come from unlikely sources and as soon as you stop looking and worrying, you'll find yourself with an amazing set of friends in no time at all!

You are approaching it from the wrong angle. You "find it hard to get people to like me"...
Its not a challenge or test, you not out to force peoplel into something.
You need to be yourself, if they don't like you , tough. You couldn't keep up an act for too long if you tried to be someone else.
The sad fact is, some people are not likable. No doubt I'll get down rated for this, but its true I'm afraid. You seen to care what people think about you, so i doubt you are in that category.
If you are conciously trying to get people to like you people will sense it, you'll come across too intense.
Try mixing with people you have no real interest in being friends with, you'll have nothing to lose by being yourself. Its not a test, be nice to people, make eye contact in shops and say hello etc. Then it'll be natural when you do really meet people in a social situation.

To have a friend you must be a friend. Start slowly compliment someone honestly, smile, you have to get into some conversations...is this hard for you? Push yourself a little at a time not to overwhelm yourself and each step will help you get closer to being a more secure person. Think positive.....you will do this and you will. Good Luck

depends what you are like as a person, are you agressive in your manner, do you put people down? just be polite, and people will like you.
Dont try too hard, people will know your putting on a act, just ask yourself what you think your doing wrong, do you think you need to change your attitude, it may not even be you, they may be the ones with the problem
