I am getting confirmed (sp.?) and I need 5 community service hours... I want to do something with animals but I don't know what.. I am 13 and live in VA I can't do anything at the animal shelter since you have to be 15 or older.. but any other ideas will work too.

Greatly appreciated!

How about a grooming place, talk to the owners and see if you can volunteer your time.

You may have to consider doing something that doesn't involve animals. Check out the local Red Cross or see if you can work at the goodwill for a couple of hours. At 13, I am not sure what places will allow you to volunteer because of child labor laws. Ask your sponsor or priest if they know of a place. You ought to be able to volunteer for the church itself. With the holidays coming up, there should be plenty of places in need of help. OH! see if there is a soup kitchen or something close by!
Good Luck and congrats on your confirmation!

you could see if walking or caring for a needy or elderly persons pet could be considered community service then you could do that. if not maybe try a vet. visiting sick in hospital or helping the elderly may be easier for you. i hope you enjoy whichever task comes your way and congratulations on your confirmation, hope you enjoy your day.

check with your local senior citizen assoc. to see if there is a place where you can volunteer to read the newspaper to elderly people or clean a house or mow a yard or something of that nature.

You can check with soup kitchens, parish organizations (like if they have a missionary trip to prepare for), or local charities...ask people you know.
