This is the daughter of my close friend and I get along well with her. I want to get her something she'll like, but not like a gift certificate or anything impersonal like that. She loves to shop, but I've already gotten gift cards to her favorite stores before. Is it ok to pick out a cute scarf or necklace for her? I'm worried about picking out something she likes.

For $40, I bought my friend's daughter white gold earrings from Costco. They like music also but u have to know which one. The kids do not wear yellow gold. On ebay there are magnetic nose rings, you do not have to pierce your nose. Nose studs are very popular now a days.

Do you mean worried about something she doesn't like? If you do, go ahead and get her a cute something like a scarf or necklace. Use your good judgement and it will be hard to go wrong. It's also easier to get cute jewelry other than a scarf or piece of clothing that she'll like.

Put a cool hat box together full of jewelry, a CD, mini perfume and other cool accessories! You can get all of that kinda stuff at like wal-mart and for the CD enclose a gift card so she can go pick something she likes....add a little tissue paper and your set!

Talk with her mother first to make sure that she's OK with you buying things for her daughter--she may not be (personally lavishing multiple gifts on someone else's kid for no reason sounds very strange to me), or she may not want her daughter to have certain things, like makeup. But if she says OK, then ask for advice on what she would like.

buy her whatever you think she will like makes it more fun that way and shows you put some thought into it gift cards are stupid a person could finish all shopping in less then 5 min if they just bought gift cards that is more stupid then giving cash .
so take time get what you think she would like and if she does not like it and says so then tell her ok give it back to me and i will give it to the salavation army store.

If you know a relatively normal teenage girl, ask her!
Spend the fifty dollars on a really nice version of a usually 10 dollar item!

I know you've gotten gift cards, but does she have an iPod? I'm 32 and I would loooove a gift card for iTunes in that amount...I'm sure a teenager would!

Maybe you could get her a gift basket assortment full of scented lotions, body sprays, candles, etc.

Girls that age love jewelry. Get her a silver necklace or bracelet with her initial on it.

I would suggest one of those make-up kits that have just about everything in them; or a caboodle type carrier for all her hair accessories and make-up items.
