Chicken soup will help you feel better. The hot steaming broth will help to clear your sinuses and chest, but will do little to actually get rid of the cold. Also, if you don't mind some spicy heat, drop in some red pepper flakes or tobasco sauce for some 'kick'... that'll really open up your airways! Depending on how bad they hurt, I would postpone the surgery for a week or two (you actually may not get a choice seeing that the surgery is scheduled for so near), but barring that, I, too, would recommend Airborne. My mom works in elementary schools and swears by it, but you have to follow the directions on the label. You also have to catch it before the cold has a chance to catch on completely. I recently also managed to stave off a cold using airborne.

Hope this helps,
V

If you really want to clear out your sinuses, order hot and sour soup for delivery. Add a couple extra dashes of dark sesame oil or hot chile oil. Chicken soup has been proven to have healing benefits, and the spiciness of hot and sour soup will clear out your sinuses like you can't believe. You'll feel better overnight! I'm not kidding!

I'm not sure about that, but while vitamin C wont get rid of a cold it will deffinately help get rid of the symptoms. I'd try some orange juice. Stress leaves your immune system comprimised so just relax! Hope your feeling better soon.

Yes, chicken soup can help with a cold. Its the steam that really helps though, cause it will unclog your sinuses as well as help with the inflamation in your lungs and nasal passages. Also, taking some echinacea will help to improve the symptoms of a cold as well as help to get over a cold faster. Its a herb that you can find in any store (Walmart, Target, CVS.....) and you can get it in pill form, or my personal fav. tea bags. It actually really works!!

Chicken soup may make you feel better, but in terms of getting rid of a cold. Probably not.

I would recommend taking Cold-ezee (sp?) and vitamin C.
I've tried other stuff like Airbourne and was not impressed. Cold-ezee seems to work for me.

I believe that is a myth but I'm no doctor either. Whenever i get a cold or sick I drink lots of concentrated orange juice always seems to help me within a day or two.

Campbell's Chicken noodle soup does help.
