I use a hair straightener every day and before i straighten my hair i spray it with Matrix Sleek spray (it comes in an orange spray bottle)and it never burns my hair

Also don't straighten it very often IF you have REALLY dry hair or REALLY oily hair because with most hair straightners you can't wash your hair or it unstraightens your hair.
