As I was stirring my glass of milk I thought about heating it a lil bit since the weather was kind of cold...I stopped because I thought something could happen. What do YOU tell me?

Are you asking about that urban legend where you try to boil water in the microwave and it explodes? That's actually true, they proved it on MythBusters. It has something to do with the surface area, I think they used distilled water in a glass with a very small opening at the top. The water becomes "superheated" above the boiling point but he steam can't escape until the surface area becomes uneven. When you tilt the glass while taking it out of the microwave or stir it with a spoon, all the steam escapes at once, causing the "explosion". I believe Alton Brown on Good Eats mentioned putting a chopstick in the glass whenever he microwaves water, just in case. This creates an uneven surface, allowing the steam to escape.

Anyway...to answer your question, I don't think milk behaves the same way as water and I doubt you'd be heating it for more than 5 minutes, so you'll be safe. If you're worried, try putting a chopstick or straw in the glass.

Its safe as long as your glass is microwave safe. Its a problem only when pouring a cold liquid into a hot glass- heat expands, cold contracts, so when you pour a cold liquid into a hot glass, or a hot liquid into a cold glass, the glass contracts or expands too fast, and breaks. It they are starting out the same temp, it should be fine.

Its all right. But if the cup is like 32 degrees or lower it could crack while being heated up by the microwave. I've put milk in the microwave Its all good.

If you use a new (smooth) glass, put a chopstick or heat-resistant plastic spoon/fork/knife in the glass of milk to help in boiling. If you're using an old glass, it has invisible scratches on it which makes it totally safe and you do not need to put a spoon in it.

It should be fine but get it out if it starts to bubble the glass could melt or the milk or whatever liquid you put in it could get too hot. Later.
