She would tell you I would hope. But if not sit her down and ASSURE her that she can tell you ANYTHING...and that there is people out there that try to scare people by saying "if you tell someone I will hurt you, or it would make bad things happen..etc"
Repeat this on several occasions so she knows you will protect her no matter what happens. But please do not direct the question to one person, children can be coaxed easily and you do not want those untrue allegations unless they are true.

Ask her if she feels good or bad around this person.

And depending on what type of abuse....you can do this
A scenerio with her.....get a teddy bear and tell her that this teddy did a bad thing what do we do to punish it? watch her, then get her to a Dr that can evaluate her...same goes for other types of abuse.(if you suspect any type of sexual abuse PLEASE get her checked)
I wish you both the best of luck!

Ask her. Make sure she knows that the man is not safe to be around, that way she does not go away or be in private with him. Now is a good age to have the conversation with her anyway, so use this opportunity to educate her on the matter. If she shuts down and does not want to talk to you about it, then I would suspect something. Take her to the doctor and have them check her for signs of abuse. She may also be more willing to talk to her doctor about the issue. Be sure she knows that if it did happen, it is not her fault, and she will not get into any trouble for telling you. Just be honest with her and let her know that you will always be there for her. If you discover that she has been abused, get her professional couselling.
Good Luck.

Sit down with her and have a 1on1 talk hold back your emotions ask her if he has ever touched her and if he did you need to take it a step further ( legal action ) talk to the social service worker he/she may have a pamphlet you can read to help you with this kids at her age will tell you everything you just need to phrase it to their level.Goodluck

Get some chocolate chip cookies and milk , or whatever your daughters favorite snack may be, sit her down and have a heart to heart with her. Tell her how much you love her and that you are her protector - then drop the bomb "has grandpa touched you in your special lil private place or anywhere that made you feel uncomfortable?"

Tak your daughter to an independent counselor - one who specializes in drawing kids out. They normally use music or art therapy to help with the trauma. I wouldn't let your child be anywhere near that paternal grandfather without your supervision at all times. Don't put her at risk.
