he's the clean crew of the forest, they feed on dead animals that gets left behind and anything else he can get his hands on.
in short he is a scavanger. that why now adays you can commonly find them checking out your garbage cans.

I would like to know,I have raccoons in the front and back of our apartment building,,kinda freaky as to why they are here??

washing all the food before it's eaten. lol. i had one for a pet. she got up to 45 lbs. they wash everything...if they can...before they eat it. it's hilarious to give them ice cubes or sugar cubes, and watch the expressions they get when it disappeares in their hands. we used to take her to the river so she could catch small fish and crawdads. she thought she was a dog...i have photos of her curled up asleep with my heeler puppy.
