OK... My question is after reading the bible: If Jesus had no father, then why does the bible say:

Matthew 1:24-25 says, "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS." "Till" (until) means that after that point, Joseph did "know" (have sexual relations with) Mary. (See

Genesis 4:1 where Adam "knew" Eve and she conceived and had a son.)

And, being an aspiring Catholic, I do look to Mary - so why all the hubub about her? To me it balances things (Queen of Heaven, not the one in charge), as having only the Father (Don't bother with the "Genderless" nonsense, he's called "The Father," C'mon now!) and the son makes a disfunctional family, that doesn't have the feminine of any value. So please, if you can't love your neighbor, then please keep to yourself. I don't want any heated mud slinging (that's what the election is for).

Adding that I need to "Read the King James' Version of the Bible," is just rude. How many versions are out there? I understand the differing views, I don't appreciate anyone telling me that my views are wrong - how unchristian!

The Holy Spirit came upon Mary and impreginated her while she was a virgin. She did not have sex with Joseph until after Jesus was born. After Jesus was born she had other childern by Joseph. Mary is his biological mother but Joseph is not his biological father, the Holy Spirit made a virgin conceive.
The ONLY time that it will ever happen. Jesus is Very God and very man.

I really don't understand what Genesis 4:1 came into it.

All that that passage says to me is that after Mary gave birth to Jesus, it is possible that she and Joseph had sex. For some people, it is imperitive that Mary was always a virgin. To me, it isn't that big of a deal. Her virginity even while pregnant just establishes that Jesus is human AND divine as he was born of a woman but is also the self-incarnated God. Whether or not she had sex (and possibly other children) after the birth of Jesus doesn't change who Jesus is/was/ever will be.

I personally look to Mary as an example of living a life in obedience to God. But the important thing is that she LIVED her life. She knew struggle and joy and pain and still loved the Lord with all her being. To me, that is a huge inspiration.

Technically, Jesus had two fathers: his actual, heavenly Father, God, who transferred Jesus into Mary's virgin womb, and also Joesph, who is considered his adoptive father because technically, Joseph had no part in the creation of Jesus.

As a side point, Mary was a god fearing woman who was blessed to be the mother of the Messiah. To assume that she never had sex with her husband is ludicrous; the Bible talks about the half-siblings of Jesus. She is never mentioned in the Bible as being an object of veneration or worthy of worship. She deserves respect for being a faithful follower of God, but only God is worthy of worship.

mary was a virgin when she became pregnant with jesus, hence the immaculate conception. this is why mary is so revered among the catholics, that god ordained mary to be worthy enough to bear the son of god. if you read around in the four gospels, you find out that joseph was outraged that mary was pregnant, and it wasn't by his seed. after the angel confronted joseph his main concern was how to protect mary from public ridicule and punishment because of having a child out of wedlock. so naturally, they were married. i really don't understand the question though. to me the verse simply states that joseph was not the biological father. at those times something like that could have been against jewish law, and to protect his family, he did what he had to do.

Joseph and Mary are the biological parents and God is the spiritual father of Jesus according to how they explained it in the bible. He is human and spirit.

Mary was born with immaculate conception so that she could have Jesus and still be considered a virgin and in order to be exempt for original sin.

I think you meant Joseph and Mary were regular people? yes they were. They were open to letting God lead in their lives and they followed His guidance. Jesus is and always will be a divine being. Fully human fully divine that is the mystery of the ages.

Mary is not divine...she was just a human who did the will of God as any Christian does. Mary isnt the queen of heaven. Where does Jesus or God say anywhere pray to mary to intercede..lol

Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
