The only thing that Atheists have in common is a Lack.... A lack of belief in God. Some atheists take this a step further and assert that they believe that there is, in fact, no God. But this is not necessary in order to say you are an atheist.

In general, there are some organizations that try to protect the rights of atheists (the Freedom From Religion Foundation, for example). Atheists are frequently targeted in parts of the country. And there are some local social and lecture clubs for atheists. (The Atheist Community of Greater Austin [TX] produce a podcast entitled "The Non-Prophets.") However, there are no atheists churches or temples. As I said, atheism is defined by a lack, so they also lack churches, temples or rules.

Some of the more prominent atheists in the media have become more vocal lately. Penn & Teller's Showtime TV program ("Bulls Hit" without the space) and Penn Jilette's daily radio program frequently highlight atheism. There are also skeptics that are promoting a critical look at religion, such as The New England Skeptics Society, The Center for Inquiry, and The James Randi Education Fund. Again, though, these are educational programs, more akin to the Audubon Society than to a church.

EDIT (answering your extended question):
Most atheists also do not believe in life after death, and particularly not in heaven or hell. Some Buddhist atheists believe in reincarnation, but there's no evidence to support it, and therefore believing in any form of immortal soul is just as irrational as believing in God.

And if there is no God and no immortality, there are no saints, either.

Well, atheism isn't really a way of life the way theism is.

There are no atheist temples, and no rules about being an atheist. There's no atheist equivalent of the Ten Commandments, although many people derive their morals from what they call a 'social contract', basically the Golden Rule. Where a Christian wouldn't hit someone because it goes against god, and atheist wouldn't hit someone because he wouldn't want someone to hit him.

A lot of people are atheists and go about it differently. I'm an agnostic atheist and am happy for people to believe whatever they like, so long as nobody is hurt. Richard Dawkins, on the other hand, is a complete jackass to all theists.

If you are an atheist, you don't believe in hell, saints -in the Godly sense- or anything else. You believe nothing theistic, theistic meaning relating to gods. You don't believe Jesus Christ was the son of God, you don't believe in God, you don't believe in the Bible as God's word, and so on.

No, Atheists simply believe that religion is a work of man. There are some Atheist organizations, but they concern themselves with monitoring religious dominance and stuff like that. It's not like a church. However, believing that aliens created us through cloning millions of years ago, using advanced science, also counts as Atheism because you still don't believe in a god. So Atheists don't all think alike.

You could say that Atheists have moral principles, but that's because everybody does. Atheists are simply people who do not believe in any god. Their morals just don't happen to be based on faith.

Just imagine how you feel about a [radically] different religion. Atheists feel that way about ALL religions. Some Atheists are obviously jerks but many of us just want everyone to co-exist and respect each other's beliefs (or lack thereof).

Atheism is not an organized 'religion' but it is a beleif nontheless.

To my knowledge, there are no 'churches' of Atheism and no written dogma taught. There is nothing of Atheism which is not in accord with the laws of the land or that in any way direct an individual's personal behavior toward an artificial ideal.

As an atheist, one is responsible to his own conscience, the civil law, his own idea of right and wrong and from only that he will formulate his own behavior and personality accordingly.

I think that if there was one great rule to follow in order to be an atheist it would have to say something about remaining honest to ones self. To apply the words of the philosopher Fredric Neitche's when speaking about the condition of man ("Man is condemned to be free.") it might mean for the Atheist, the individual being honest to himself, that there is a natural demand placed upon him which allows that he is free to seek the truth where ever he may find it and that he is also condemned to continue checking his results forever.

Atheist(ā´thē-ĭz´´m) , denial of the existence of God or gods and of any supernatural existence, to be distinguished from agnosticism, which holds that the existence cannot be proved. The term atheism has been used as an accusation against all who attack established orthodoxy, as in the trial of Socrates. There were few avowed atheists from classical times until the 19th cent., when popular belief in a conflict between religion and science brought forth preachers of the gospel of atheism, such as Robert G. Ingersoll. There are today many individuals and groups professing atheism. The 20th cent. has seen many individuals and groups professing atheism, including Bertrand Russell and Madalyn Murry O'Hair. Atheism is also sometimes erroneously equated with antitheism (opposition to theism) or antireligion (opposition to religion). [citation needed]

Atheists don't believe in any gods.

Therefore they don't believe in heaven or hell, either.

They don't follow any organized religion. There are no churches, and there are no higher ups telling them what to think and what is right and wrong. Atheists have to figure that out on their own.

Each Atheist is individual in her or his beliefs and morality. They can't be lumped into one group .

Um, do? No belief in gods, that's about it. We don't have special buildings, we don't gather together like that. We are not one group, we are only individual people that happen to have non belief in common, that's about it.

Oh, and no group so no group rules, our "rules" (as in our morals and values) come from our own family and society.

Edit: Nope, don't believe in hell, saints, or anything that is related to religion.

The word "atheism" can be broken down into parts. The prefix "a-" means "without" in this context, and the word "theism" means "belief in a god or gods". So "atheism" therefore means "without belief in a god or gods".

There are different kinds of atheism. Being "without belief" in deities is considered "weak" atheism as it is the absence of a positive assertion. "Believing" that deities do not exist is called "strong" atheism because it is a positive assertion.

There are also agnostics, those who consider themselves and/or humanity as incapable of possessing absolute answers regarding the existence of deities. In that sense, agnostics are also weak atheists as they are "without belief".

There is also "ignosticism" which asserts that the question "does god exist" isn't worth asking because it is as illogical as asking "what color is Thursday". It is a nonsensical question that cannot possibly yield meaningful results and is therefore irrelevent.

There are no atheist rituals, no atheist holidays, no sacred atheist grounds or holy atheist temples. There is no official atheistic worldview and there are no atheist rules by which one should live their life.

Atheism is the opposite of religion. There is no doctrine, no dogma, no ritual or tradition, no sacred text, no rules, no single community. The only thing all atheists have in common is the rejection of any deities.

What do they do? We just live our lives, same as anyone else, but without religion. It's really quite simple!
