some salons offer toning. They don't put dye on it is just a colour tone liquid, it may be better for your hair. Call a salon and ask if they offer that. I know that an Aveda salon will.

Don't put an ashy dye over it! likely turn it a weird purple-y, mucky color. Get a shampoo and conditioner for gray and highlighted hair, most drug and large Wal Mart type stores will have some type of it. Make sure that the kind you get is purple, which counteracts the brassiness. And I would pick up a box of Tone Refiner (I forget whether it's Revlon, or L'oreal), but it only comes in 2 shades, and obviously you would want the one for blondes. It also reduces un-wanted brassiness, and ads shine.

I'm sure your hair will be fine with a non-peroxide dye. Maybe you can tone it down and make it a little darker with a semi permanent dye.

Dont worry about it. Hair color fades just wash it a lot and give it a month or so and it should naturally darken.

You might be able to get it toned at a professional salon.
