You know, your doctor will usually tell you that hormones have nothing to do with acne or diet, but I don't believe this to be so.

I had acne when I was younger and found a way to get rid of it after trying everything on the store shelves. I even went on prescription medicine that didn't work. And yes, proactive didn't either.

What worked for me is staying away from dairy products, especially milk and ice cream. I seemed to have more break-outs when ingesting these products.

And the magic ingredient that help the acne go away was...
"Tea-tree-oil" You can get at you local Walmart for $5 a bottle.
Buy some q-tips and use them to dab on the spots. It might burn a little, but that's part of the cleansing/oxidizing effect as it will help clear out your pores. Don't put on with your fingers, the tea tree oil will just absorb right through your skin. And it is safe to use, natural herbal, so don't worry.

Also, eat a lot of carrots. Carrots help oxidize the blood in your body and help the creating of new white a red blood cells. And stay away from fatty acid foods especially fast food places. Hope this helps.

And don't listen to the whole cleanlinesses bull. That's a wives tale. You could be the cleanest person on earth and still have the worst acne in the world. It has to do with genetics. Ask each of your parents about acne, and usually either dad or mom had bad acne when they were younger. Any good dermatologist will tell you the same. Genetics.

I say tea-tree-oil, because it will actually disinfect the infected pimple/cyst area, and kill the oil/bacteria that's formed around the pore. Pretty soon you will start to notice the oil production is becoming less and less, and the spots are dieing out - struggling to survive.

It depends a lot more on your diet rather than how much you exercise. For instance, if you eat enough vegetables you can easily get adequate vitamin A and then you don't need that one. Zinc is a good one to take especially if you're a vegetarian, for not a lot of people get enough of that one. Be careful not to take it above the daily limit or it can cause copper imbalance in your body. I hear that is troublesome to restore after the balance is lost. I would say that one is non-essential, as well as the calcium, unless you don't receive enough from your diet. The fish oil is good. I think Vitamin D and vitamin B12 sublinguals are very important. Most people are low on vitamin B12 because many people lack the ability to absorb it from food. The thing is, that ends up being a lot of supplements in the end. If I were you I'd eat a healthy diet where you get your vitamin A and C from fresh fruit and vegetable sources, and include vitamin D and B12 as those are commonly found to be deficient in the majority of the population. As a person who exercises, they are especially important for energy production. B12 IMO is the most important one, it has SO many purposes and is known to cause a lot of diseases when it's missing, and it's missing most of the time. It may be easier for you to invest in a multivitamin.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

you sound mature for your age- 25 is young!!!!!! your hormones could still be affecting you - but mostly I would guess it is the everything and anything diet- try to eat whole raw foods once a day- apple- carrots- salads- you get the idea- lots of fresh water to flush out the yuck- and stay away from preservatives food colorings and M.S.G.(monosidium glutamate). you can also try acidophilus- and enzymes- I prefer the Rainbow light brand but you can get just about any kind- some are vegetarian(enzymes) getting a good workout is good for the old bod as well-walking jogging situps etc.... it is your largest organ - take care of it!!! oh ya, suger- cut back on the sugar and your skin will look clearer

Acne is cause by a variety of things, and yes, hormones are one of them.

Here's a few things to consider:

Any time that you are putting "unnatural" chemicals in your body, your body chemisty has to compensate, and often times that means creating more acne. A good, though extreme, example is people who do Meth. Their body gets really screwed up, and an overwhelming majority of Meth users have very bad acne.

Inconsistant diet can force your body to overcompensate. This can be anything from eating too sporatically, too often, not enough, too much, and on and on for days... but the general idea is, if your body tells you that you are hungry, that means it is in need of something. When your body says it is hungry, it is natural to eat, but it is unnatural to "pig out" every time. Most dieticians will tell you that the best meal setup is to have moderately sized meals, and to have healthy "snacks" now and then to fill in when you get a hungry feeling. I am not trying to say you can't eat junk food, but keeping it to a healthy level is important. When you have too much "junk" in your body, it will find any way it can to get rid of it. That means converting to fat, getting rid of it through waste management, and exiting a lot of it through the skin... which can cause acne.

Cleanliness is by far the biggest thing. You could be the most fit health freak in the universe, but if you don't wash your face every day, you're still going to get acne. Cleaning every day isn't going to magically wipe everything away, but it makes the biggest difference in keeping things under control. I have naturally oily skin, so I tend to have to wash my face at least a couple times during the day, and I wash my hands three or four times a day, not including when I use the bathroom. I still get acne, but I can honestly say it is a lot better now than what it was like years ago when I didn't consistantly wash during the day.

Also, just general hormone changes and physiology changes can cause and manipulate your acne. If you went from not working out to working out a lot, that changes your hormone levels and your physiology, and can then cause acne... or on the flipside, get rid of it as well. A lot of people can see this happen where they will be more or less acne free, then they become really active and they get acne. At the same time, a lot of people are just the opposite... when they sweat every day, they are clear... but if they sit around for a few days and do nothing, they get acne popping up.

The other thing to consider is stress. Stress causes all kinds of changes in the body, and in turn has the same results as the other things above... stress by itself can cause a lot of acne.

Actually, I heard that multivitamins cause acne, especially zinc. I recommend getting Proactive and not taking zinc.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html
