I wouldn't if I were you. I've got the same color you're describing, and I am too scared to mess with the color, because I've heard it's really hard to get it back to the way it was before if you end up not liking the new color.

Besides, I like having red hair anyway. It makes you stand out if nothing else.

I don't think that dyeing your hair blonde is very damaging. The only thing that I really find damaging to your hair is when you strip the color. You might want or have to strip the color before you dye it blonde, and if you do it at home it can be very damaging. This comes from personal experience. I felt like I was pouring hardcore bleach towel bowl cleaner on my head. My hair felt really dry and damaged afterward, and my hair came out a crazy banana shade of blonde (but my natural hair color was dirty blonde). There is the possibility of you being allergic, so follow the box recommendations if you do it at home. The best thing would be to go to a salon to get it done. I don't really know how ash blond highlights would look with red hair, but it seems like it wouldn't look good. I have dyed my hair blonde many times. You increase damage to your hair if you dye your hair too frequently in a short period of time. Usually I find that the dyes don't change your hair color much if they are subtle differences, but most people recommend only going 2 shades lighter or darker. Theoretically, your expected result should be a combination of the box color and your current hair color. Hope this helps. :)

It sounds cool, but if you're going for a natural look, I can tell you it's not going to look natural. Maybe you could deepen the original color to like a dark auburn, or reddish-brown, and make the highlights more golden instead of platinum. Good luck!

I wouldn't do it, unless you want a really punky-look. Try strawberry-blonde highlights, which still have a lot of red in it but give the hair an all-over glow.

I have worked in a salon and I know that to bleach red hair is very difficult, so when booking an appointment be sure to mention that you have red hair, it often takes a long time to do.

I think it looks very trashy, like you were raised in a trailer-park, but that's just me. I'm sure tons of other girls would love it.

I recommend a red base with brown-toned low-lights.
Best of luck!
