Actually, St. Malachy said the next pope (maybe, more below) would be the last pope, not the Antichrist. Nostradamus also predicted a pope who would be forced to leave Rome (possibly kidnapped), and one pope. Pope Pius X also, reportedly, came out of a trance once saying he saw a vision in which he claimed, "Will it be me, or my successor? What I see is a Pope fleeing Rome walking over the dead bodies of his priests!".
"Peter the Roman", as St. Malachy called him, is to be the last priest, but it is possible that there will be more popes between Benedict XVI and Peter. For all we know, he didn't mention all of them. Personally, I don't believe in the prophecy.

i personally do not believe the pope will be the anti-christ. i do believe he will become somwhat that of the anti-christ's right hand man. prophecy tells us the anti-christ will be head of the new revived holy roman empire, right now that looks like the european union. and no bush is not the antichrist, nobody likes him. the antichrist will be overwhelmingly popular.

The Catholic Church has not declared the prophecies as divinely inspired.

Some modern scholars even think they are a forgery.

With love in Christ.
