The previous OT promotes it and incest. the place did Can get his spouse? Abram (Abraham) lists Sarah as his first spouse yet Hagar is the two his 2d, or his concubine. That one guy (Joseph-?) marries Leah, then Rachel, then the two sisters have some jealousy factor going and that they each 'provide' him their maid servants as concubines...then there is the whole Solomon factor...Oh, Lot sleeps along with his 2 daughters after the Sodom and Gomorrah incident... there could be others yet those are those that spring to concepts (once you ascertain those, remember that the deity of the OT is all-understanding and not in any respect says something to the countless adult adult males that it is not good/stable.) Spitfire has quoted verses from the NT...it exhibits the adaptation between the OT & the NT... they're going to say the OT would not count variety anymore for the reason that JC got here yet they're going to at as quickly as turn to the OT whilst they elect to bypass regulations that discriminant against others (IE-homosexuals) Edit: Gary, I agree in concept yet regrettably, a lot of our societies customs are motivated via that e book of myths. Neil, grew to become into Titus written AFTER the Romans started influencing/invading? i think of you're able to desire to examine the 1st portion of the e book, if not all of it.

Dear hush-hush,

Where are you getting your information? Take a close look at Mark 10:2-12. God never condoned polygamy! It was the wickedness of man's heart, and that includes females also. Every time a man tokk more than one wife, there were problems in that house. David had multiple wives and the children from those marriages caused a war in the country. Solomon had multiple wives and they caused him to go a whoring after other gods (idols). Sarah gave Abraham her maiden and the son that resulted from that marriage caused problems in that family. Incidently, Ishmael, is the father of all the Arab peoples! Need I go further? God declared that if a man is to be married, he is to marry one (1) wife and they are to remain married until death. If one spouse dies, then the living spouse can marry again. Polygamy is rebellion against God and is sin.

The Bible does not specifically condemn this practice but look at how much misery these multiple wives caused in Biblical times. If it wer not for Abraham having two then the entire world would be different today. There would not be the constant wars over who are Abrahams seed and who aren't. That is what these wars are about today. And God only created Adam with one helper, wife, Eve.

WHY in the world would she want to???? EEEWWW!!!

Anyway, the Bible requires the man to be the breadwinner, so if the woman is, they aren't really following the Bible perfectly anyway.

Ok perhaps you should read the Bible. Jesus taught that he is the example and Christ is betrothed to the church. Following that example Man is to have one wife and is not free from her until her death. and vice-versa. Eph.5-23-25 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Polygamy was never condemned but is was also never encouraged.

We should set ourselves to a higher standard above the law.

i would say only if she chooses people she doesnt love , in the man/woman sense, and people who do not love her that way,,,,,, otherwise,,, i think it would lead to jealousies, hurt feelings etc, we humans do not share well, when we are really in love

Polygamy is a calling from God. When God sees fit that it needs be, it will be. We just have to wait and see.
