The first thing that is needed to know is that all characters are made up of Radicals. A radical is a part of a character. By knowing what the radicals are, and the location of it in the character, they can usally get what the meaning is and the pronucation. The radical on the left is usally pronucation, and the right has the meaning. If this does not help, they can look in a character dictionary. By looking up the radicals, and the number of strokes, they can find it in the dictionary.
