Both my parents are quite sick. My father is in and out of the hospital. My mother remains at home. This means there are times when my mother is home alone. My sisters and I provide care whenever we can, but there are times we just can't be there. So, I am looking for a pendant (necklace) my mother can wear around her neck - on which there is a button which, when pressed, will alert me that there is a problem. I'm talking about the "I've fallen and I can't get up..." service. But I'd prefer the call come to my cell phone instead of a monitoring service. Any thoughts?

The only thing I can suggest is to have neibors you can trust check up on her once in a while.

Yes, you can find such a device through ADT alarm systems and they usually offer a free alarm system along with a contract for 24 hour severance. There maybe a health company or hospital that could offer you an alternative monitoring device that you may find to be better suited for your Mother. Do investigative work on internet or yellowpages. Contact to know what your options are.

you might could set up a plan with the help service so when your mom or dad presses the button the company could tend to them and then call your phone thats what I would see if they could do that. Hoped I helped. Later

Get a kiddie cell phone. There is a call button for Mom and one for Dad. You could put you and your sister in those positions. There is also a limited phone directory button (5 numbers). You could put numbers in there for more relatives, neighbor or friend.

Get her one of those little cell phones designed for kids. There are like 4 buttons that you program numbers into. It can't call any other numbers. They are small and clip on so she could put it in her pocket. You could program 911 into one button, you into another button, and 2 backups into the other button. :)
