there is no standard issue knife. certain units use their unit funds and get their guys different toys, but there is no standard issue knife. btw not sure about the marines but the army doesnt issue bayonetts anymore. the only time we ever used them was for parade events. they're completely pointless on deployment, since most people keep their weapons slung or hooked with a D ring anyway, so they dont even bother issuing them.

The new bayonet is one manufactured by Ontario Knife Company with an 8 inch long blade. This replaced the M-9 due to its durability and effectiveness. Marines who are issued 9mm pistols are issued the K-BAR (Knife-Browning Automatic Rifle).

There really is no "standard," per se. Though it would not be the KA-Bar. It would most likely be the M9 Bayonet, since it can attach to weapons like the M16A2 easier. However, you cannot bring one from home, as it's frowned upon.

I don't know what they issue now, but the K-Bar was the standard for over 50 years. I've never had a better knife.

You can draw a K-Bar from the armoury, as well as a bayonet. 20 years ago you could buy a K-Bar in the PX for $13. I have three of them.

Are you in the Marines, if you are, then you can find that out easy enough. Or are you a want to be. If you are, step up to the plate son, it's your turn to hit or sit down.
