They believe in some sort of God, but their god is some type of alien.
While Scientologists acknowledge Jesus Christ as a great spiritual teacher, Scientology doctrine is not based on the teachings of Jesus. Scientology has its roots in Nihayana Buddhism, and Scientology therefore acknowledges Siddharta Gautama as an exalted spiritual teacher.
Scientology however is not a philosophy of "faith" or "belief", but an application of practical principles to one's life in order to improve conditions.
They believe that your body is invaded with aliens that were banished from their planet a million years ago. And that when you are born, you have the spirits of about 2,000 aliens that you must rid yourself of. They call them Body Thetons (sp?) There's a book by Ron L Hubbard, called Dianetics (Sp?) in which this "religion" is based upon....
load of nutters if you ask me
as for the amount of celebrities that get involved with it all i can say is they must be very bored with their lives and have way too much money that it has clouded their judgement.

There's a lot more to the Scientology philosophy than space opera. To us, what's behind a "space opera" incident is as important or unimportant as what's behind an event from this year, last year, childhood, etc. The crux of the matter, to a Scientologist, is/are the decisions and considerations the person had about a given experience or trauma. I'm not meaning to fob you off or cop out, but there are a LOT of yahoo answers about Scn beliefs and what they are. It's true that it's not a Judao Christian religion. Any Scn'ist who believes in God or reads the bible, torah, koran, etc, would be doing so because that was his religion before he got into Scn. It wouldnt' be part of Scn to do that. Much of Scn came from (was borrowed/appropriated) from Buddhism, early psychoanalysis with a dollop of occultism. Hubbard dabbled in the occult with Jack Parsons before creating Dianetics. Scn is about self empowerment (definitely not their phrasing), inner potential. There are more than one entity that practice it, the most well known one being the church of Scn which is what Tom Cruise, Kirstie Alley, John Travolta and others are members of. This is an extremely problematic organization. You might want to look at wikipedia, too, on that. Other Scn organizations are more grass roots type things and are hated by the church of Scientology. Scientology has, justly, been called a therapy cult and that is because it's main method is "auditing" which is Scn counselling. There are hundreds or more types of Dianetic and Scientology auditing processes. With some, you can see the occultic and psychoanalytic influences. One of the things auditing aims at is the person's decisions he made in moments of trauma, stress and pain. It's interesting how the people who go on and on about space opera never mention that- and yet it's the basis of Scientology.

Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. It is a very practical religion.
All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew,for example and still use and apply the priniciples of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from using it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is a non denominational religion . The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.
The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. and lifeAnd thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.
How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. The developement of the technology is new.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable personal estate, when he died.
He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 10 million Scientologists in more than 163 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 53 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.
This is just an overview.
L. Ron Hubbard explained fully the theology and technologies of Scientology in more than 500,000 pages of writings, including dozens of books and over 2,000 tape-recorded public lectures.

All things must pass and seven years have passed since this post Actually the replies that make the most sense are the ones which clearly describe scientology.
Anything that promotes the betterment of the individual - and of others is fighting the forces of let us call it evil.
It is not way out to believe in reincarnation - other beliefs advocate this and are not necessarily persecuted for it.
It is true that in everyday life we are torn between situations and can lose focus. This makes us vulnerable to things which are not good for us. It is quite OK in my opinion to progress ones thinking for greater clarity
I say all of this without being of any defined religious domination or creed. I believe in the forces of good and evil and hold open my thoughts of being born again. I believe in a constructive approach to my life.

If you want tho change your lifetime then this is your manual https://tr.im/Y6YEh , Manifestation Miracle.
With Manifestacion Miracle you can learn the law of attraction. The Manifestation Miracle does an excellent work of training you just how clearly you'll need to desire anything to be able to do what' required in order to get it. Think of desire exactly the same way you would think of a candle. If the candle is burning solid then you'll push past limitations to be able to get what you want. If the candle isn't using at all, then you won't. Wish is just a using fireplace. Not only have you got to have it, but you also have to help keep tossing wood about it to help keep it burning.
That manual is as straightforward because it gets and with it you'll be able to start thinking in what' probable really fast.

They believe that some alien came here long ago and forced souls into a volcano, the volcano erupted and the souls entered into humans, so they believe we are born with some alien form inside of us which we must pay a scientologist "mentor" or whatever they are called to cleanse our bodies of this.
I think the total cost for the cleansing comes to around 300-350K.

Here's an interesting webpage about Scientology. In my opinion they are a very dangerous sect.

Disclaimer: I have not actually taken the time to verify any of these claims although there are some reference sources quoted at the end of this slide show if you wish to investigate this further.

they basically believe ina universal force known as Theta it is not human it is just a force that each person individualizes as he or she becomes more and more spiritual
they believe in reincarnation many times over, they believe in immortal spriits
they also believe Painful experiences and harmful acts in one's prebirth, current, and past lives become imprinted in the reactive mind and lead to irrational behavior.
the ultimate goal of which is to realize one's true nature as an immortal spirit, a thetan. The path to salvation, or enlightenment, includes achieving states of increasingly greater mental awareness--Pre-Clear, Clear, and ultimately Operating Thetan
so basically scientology deals with the human spirit and its relationship with the universe
