You more than likely studied too long and became tired. When you're tired it's time to take a break because your mind will no longer absorb what you are studying.
Research has shown that learning efficiency is much higher when a topic is studied in short blocks everyday, rather than long intense blocks occasionally. This is why cramming for tests is self-defeating.
