Because they do not want to hear the truth- they want something that will tickle their fancy- please their ears- not the truth. The truth does sting- but OH how people NEED TO HEAR IT!

Generally, people give thumbs down to correct answers to make there own answer seem more popular or because they're jealous of the quality of that person's answer.
However, when it comes to religious questions, where there are no definite right or wrong answers, people usually give thumbs down to whichever answers portray different views to there own, either to indicate that their views differ or, in most cases, because they become annoyed when someone promotes a religious view they disagree with. I would suspect that the people who become annoyed the easiest are the atheists when they read someone talking about Christianity.

I agree. As I have posted before, this section should be changed from "Religion & Spirituality" to "God haters & Christian Mockers", because they don't want the truth, they want to stir up strife and have a forum to spread the hate and mockery. So if "they" had their own section, this one could be used for people with REAL questions and answers. Because I have actualy seen some of those here. People who just realy want to know something without being mocked and insulted for a bit of truth.
I always know I will get thumbs down...even though they asked the question.

People don't like ideas that are different from theirs. Even Jesus knew this at John 3 ; 19 - 21 where He's discussing the light of truth and that men hate it cause it exposes their works and bad deeds.
Don't forget that in the middle ages, they burned bibles and the men who translated them.

Simple- the person doing the thumbs-down bit doesn't want to hear the truth because, frankly, the truth can hurt! In the case of people who quote the Bible, the truth can be perceived as an attack on their right to believe what they choose to believe.

More so because it's a cut and paste of an answer and no thought was put into it. A thumbs down should always go to someone who puts an answer that is longer than all the answers put together. Even if they're right.

I think it's because they don't like the answer. There is a lot of that on here. I always try to put a "tumbs up" on an answer when I see that "non-believers" are bombing it.

People can't stand it when they are disproven by a book they claim to understand but obviously don't, or they wouldn't follow false teachings in the first place.
I'm probably gonna get a thumbs down rating for this, but what else is new??

I think it's more about how the answer is used and in what context.
