If food is collecting and getting stuck, this is potentially dangerous, as you could choke. Go to your doctor and ask for a "Dysphagia evaluation." This is a test for a swallowing disorder, and will be done by a speech pathologist. The test is not painful, they just watch you chew and swallow various types of food and fluids and then look in your mouth. They can then help you plan treatment and make recommendations to help you stop pocketing food.

You might not want to have corrective surgery - but it sounds like a problem that may grow worse as you get older and the last thing you need is to die too young an age by choking to death.., and that is a very good likelihood.

Unless a surgeon gives you another option - get that fixed ASAP. Please, for your family's sake if nothing else.

Try using a squirt bottle to flush.
