I am on antibiotics to cure the infection, but cannot afford a dentist should the problem persist when the regimen is completed. My question, can an absess be cured with antibiotics alone and be present when the teeth are healthy? Flossing, brushing with peroxide, might they prevent the abcess from returning? I have medical coverage but no dental, nor can I in the least afford one right now, unfortunately. Please, any advice is more than appreciated. Thanks!

I've had one for like 6 years but it was draining so it didn't hurt bad but when I got it cleaned, it killed me...I was put on antibiotics to kill the infection but then I had to do a root canal...my teeth appeared healthy but it was pretty sensitive...Ask your community about this free dental clinic in your area...There are programs that are free to get dental work done for free...Thing is, you have to have a job and no insurance to qualify plus it's done by dental students which isn't too bad b/c they have a dentist on hand...

The antibiotic is a bandage for the real problem. If the tooth is dead, therefore requiring an antibiotic to help heal the infection. When you stop taking the antibiotic the abscess will return. Yes teeth will die without a cavity from trauma ie.. grinding clinching or physical trauma from a accident. Flossing and brushing will not help the infection because the nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth are dead. Only way to get in out is to have a root canal done on the tooth. Ignore the problem and it will only get worse to a point that it will need to be extracted. The body has a built in mechanism to get rid of the dead tooth. That is why you get an infection, it softens the bone around the tooth until the tooth gets loose enough to fall out. Generally that requires a fair amount of time and alot of pain.

The antibiotics may not be working on the abcess so a change off them would be in order. Worst case is that the abcess may need to be drained and thats not nice at all. Try a mouthwash made with salt and water as well. hope this helps.

the cause of the problem is not due to ur teeth. do u have an std?
have u been taking oral steroid prescribed by an doctor?
if so thrush is ur problem
ask ur doctor for a medicine called pink magic
