I am having the same issue with my 8-year-old daughter - Christmas coming up and her birthday not long after.
She also has just about every toy ever created and is bored with them all! I've been trying to come up with a solution too.

My thinking is that material things get old after a while for kids. I mean, sure, they'll get excited for a brief time with a new toy they don't have...then they'll play with it a few times...then it gets tossed in the corner/drawer/toy box with all the other "has been" toys.

So...some ideas I've come up with so far are non-material gifts. Things such as lessons of some sort (dance, drama, horseback riding, karate, music or any other type of lessons based on the kid's interests and personality). Or treating them to a special event or making a fun day for just the two of you, like going out for a nice meal then to see a play or some sort of a show, going to a salon/spa for a fun "makeover", etc. I know it's hard to wrap these things but you could always get creative and make your own "fun day" certificate and present it in a pretty envelope.

So far these are what I've come up with... I'm leaning towards the salon/spa thing myself for my daughter. The funny thing is I really want her to get a cute "girly" hair cut (instead of the long and I hate to say it, but stringy hair she insists on having) and I constantly nag her about it which she hates, so I'm hoping that if I present a "makeover day" it'll get her excited and motivated for a "new look!" That way it'll make us both happy!

Good luck! :-)

Give the gift of service. Let her buy stuff to send to a soldier in Iraq, and box it up and send it to one. Contact Blue Star mothers. One of the best gifts you can give a child is how to be of service to others; that it is an honor, and not an imposition.

Adopt a Wild horse, a whale, tiger, manatee or a coral reef.
With the wild horse-you actually get to take a horse home. With the others, you adopt them, get a picture, a history, and they track it for a year and tell you about it. One of the best gifts you can give is to care about our planet, and that ONE person does make a difference..

Give her a pedicure complete with leg massage. This present is about loving yourself, and not letting anyone touch you without permission.

Name a star after her. One of the best presents is awe/wonder.

Go with her to serve christmas dinner to the homeless. One of the best gifts you can give a child is gratitude for her lucky life.

Don't give her more plastic ^^% to recycle.
My kids had to clean their closets out every Thanksgiving to make room for new stuff. They didn't have room for anything unless they got rid of a lot! Taught them to care about their stuff, and other people's suffering.

Target sells the coolest thing -- it's called an Illustory. The child can write their own book and illustrate their own story. Then they mail it off and they receive their book bound. It even includes an author's page. It's only $19.99 and includes one bound book. Of course, you have to pay for more. There's even an "About the Author" page and you can send in a photo. Most kids like this because the possibilities are endless even if they aren't really into books and writing.

Don't give a Christmas/Birthday gift! My b-day is right before Christmas and everyone gives me combined gifts and I hate it! Don't even wrap the b-day gift in Christmas wrapping paper, just try to separate them as much as possible so she doesn't feel that her b-day is not important or looked over, it can really hurt her feelings!

I would give her something she can create, like a craft kit. If you go to any craft store, you will get a ton of ideas! There are a lot of kids craft projects that are fun! She will have a unique project to do, and it will be something she can be proud of! Maybe you could buy her a starter scrapbook kit! That way, she could make a book of her own to have and remember events and fun stuff!

Another idea are the jewelry kits. She could make her own jewelry to wear!

If you buy her something like that, you could add to it for Christmas if she likes it.

a spa day like others said, get it for yourself also so you can spend the day together. A membership to the Zoo or Museum for a year with promises to go with her once in a while. Lessons in something she really likes maybe?

If shes a girly girl maybe a day at the salon. You and her get your hair done and medicure/pedicure's gift card. It all depends on what she likes.
