I'm a home health nurse that needs a vehicle with a lot of room for my supplies. I'm looking for something used, around $10,000. I would even consider a car if it has a lot of trunk space.

my top choices for a small to midsize suv based on mpg and reliability ratings, all approx. $10,000.00 in price are (also, I assumed all these are 4-wheel drive, 4 cyl. engines w/automatic transmissions. So mpg and price will vary if those factors change.) '00-'01 Ford Escape, '01-'02 Jeep Liberty mpg=19-23 '99-'00 Toyota Rav-4 mpg-22-26 '99 Honda CR-V mpg=22-25. Check out kbb.com and you can compar 4 cars side by side at once, w/all the info right there, as well as ratings and reviews. Msn Autos has reviews from actual owners w/pros and cons, etc, which is helpful. (msn.com, just pick "autos" from the list of categories available.)

Pontiac Vibe is considered an SUV. 4-cylinder gives it good gas mileage. Mine has a sunroof and I haven´t seen it since I gave it to my daughter. She is married and has 2 children.

My MIL's Dodge Grand Caravan (Sport suspension) gets about 24 MPG. It has a lot of room, too. You can get for 10K or under if you go 2002 or older. Good luck.

My opinion: save away from experience. great length, great value, great mileage = great motor vehicle. And no, i'm now not a motor vehicle salesman or affiliated with save away from in any way. I even have pushed them many circumstances as condo automobiles for organisation journeys.
